By now, many popular museums are officially providing insanely good virtual museum tours and exhibitions, including art galleries and opera theaters, which can be accessed from home. Renowned institutions around the world have huge online archives and some fascinating exhibitions at your fingertips. The Louvre in France, one of the most famous art museums in the world and a historic monument in the heart of Paris, provides some virtual museum tours to access some of the most popular exhibits such as artworks from Delacroix, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, the Petite Galerie or Egyptian Antiquities. During your visit you can click on numerous artifacts to learn more about them.

Mercedes-Benz Museum

Germany, Stuttgart

The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, the only museum in the world that can document in a single continuous timeline over 130 years of auto industry history, provides a virtual exhibition tour to tell its stories from the very beginnings to the present day.  The Museum celebrates the automobile invented by Carl Benz in 1886 and tells its history and stories, bringing both alive by placing them in the context of technology, day-to-day life, social history and popular culture.

 

Over 1.500 exhibits and more than 160 vehicles of all types are the main protagonists - from the oldest automobiles ever to legendary racing cars and futuristic research vehicles. This unparalleled world can be discovered on two tours that follow a "Legend" and "Collection" narrative.

The British Museum

United Kingdom, London

Google Arts & Culture has partnered with galleries and museums worldwide and created virtual tours. One of the most elaborate projects was created together with the British Museum. The iconic museum located in the heart of London allows virtual visitors to tour the Great Court and discover the ancient Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies. Experience hundreds of artifacts on the museum's virtual tour. Visitors can simply scroll through the eras, depending on the continent or focus, discover important exhibits, for which there is then an image, text and audio material. Those who prefer to move through the British Museum can do so too.
